The Toronto chapter of SABA was formed in 2005 by a small group of lawyers who felt the need for an organization to represent the interests of South Asian legal professionals in the Greater Toronto Area. Since its inception, SABA Toronto has grown impressively and now counts within the ranks of its members lawyers from all sections of the profession, including law firms, corporations, the government and non-profit organizations. SABA Toronto prides itself as being the premier voice of the South Asian legal profession in this city.

SABA Toronto represents South Asian legal professionals and ensures that their interests are recognized, respected and voiced with the Law Society of Ontario and various levels of provincial and federal government. We aim to unite South Asian lawyers, deliver programming for professional growth and advancement, promote access to justice and give back to our South Asian communities.

The Counsel Network, the most respected, connected and powerful lawyer recruitment firm in Canada, has specialized in providing the Canadian legal market with comprehensive, long-term talent management solutions since 1988. On October 3, 2022, the firm merged with international retained executive search firm Caldwell, bringing together two strong executive search brands with exceptional reputations borne of a true passion for achieving the best results for clients and candidates. We are deeply committed to building exceptional careers, teams, and organizations by challenging the norm. We work hard to assist individual lawyers to reach their career goals.

We are also extremely committed to building an equitable, diverse, and inclusive legal profession. At our core, we seek to change the world through recruitment. In a rapidly changing landscape, law firms and legal departments must be committed to recognizing and maximizing the contributions of their women, racialized, LGBTQ+, and disabled lawyers in order to attain, grow, and retain top legal talent that will ensure its success today and in the future. Our recruitment processes, training, strong relationships, initiatives, and involvement in various equity seeking groups allow us to attract diverse candidates so that organizations and firms can truly benefit from diverse and inclusive teams.

Our partners have advised the profession through economic cycles and unprecedented changes in the industry, building careers, firms, law departments and, ultimately, success in the process. Now backed by international resources and reach, we take a team-based approach – ensuring clients find the best talent for their teams and candidates find the best position for their next career move. We believe every client deserves more than a transactional experience with their recruiter.

Our passion to deliver the best experience to our clients is what drives us to be experts in our field and is demonstrated by our efforts to continually develop our knowledge of the legal market, build strong relationships within the profession and our communities, and uphold our exceptional track record of successful, long-term placements.
