Join Mr. Pardeep Singh Nagra, Executive Director of the Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada, as he shares the history of Sikhs in Canada. He will specifically be focusing on the fateful journey of the Komagata Maru steam liner, which wrote itself into history in 1914 by attempting to transport 376 passengers, 340 of whom were Sikh immigrants. The ship was denied permission to dock, thus becoming the first ship carrying migrants to be turned away by Canada.
This event will be taking place 12:30 pm — 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2014 at Osgoode Hall Law School.
Tickets are free. Please RSVP to ensure entry.
